I'M CONCERNED about the grandparent who considers life in the womb as a fungus, growth or leech. This left me dismayed. Just think, if the parent or parents of the grandchildren had so desired, they could have terminated those grandchildren at any time. Then their body parts could have been harvested and they would be a commodity on the market. All life is important, even the child in the womb. It was planned that way by a higher authority, God...

Higher authority

I'M CONCERNED about the grandparent who considers life in the womb as a fungus, growth or leech. This left me dismayed. Just think, if the parent or parents of the grandchildren had so desired, they could have terminated those grandchildren at any time. Then their body parts could have been harvested and they would be a commodity on the market. All life is important, even the child in the womb. It was planned that way by a higher authority, God.

Let's blame Clinton

I WONDERED when someone would get around to blaming Bill Clinton for George W. Bush's decision on stem-cell research. And David Limbaugh has seemingly done that in his column. Limbaugh knows how to put the screws to everybody.

Heartwarming story

WHAT A heartwarming story regarding Ado, the highway patrol's German shepherd. Being an animal lover, it evoked tears when reading about what could have happened to Ado if it had not been for some very caring individuals, including Mike Ervin, who initiated the chain of actions, and the individuals at St. Francis Medical Center who played a very crucial part in saving Ado's life. May God bless you all for being so caring and compassionate.

Talk to employees

JACKSON SCHOOL leaders need to quit whining and seek other ways to help the district. I'm sure if they would talk to the employees at each school who do the hard work instead of staying in air-conditioned offices, they could learn why things are that way. And why do they need so many secretaries?

Upbeat letter

WASN'T IT so refreshing to read the letter, so positive and heart-warming, about the young boys in Delta? How proud their parents must be, because it's definitely a reflection on them and the upbringing of these boys. Hooray for them, and let's hear more stories like this.

School pride

WANT TO see something pretty? Drive around Jefferson Elementary School and take a look at the beautiful flowers and buildings. It shows a lot of pride from the school, the students and our neighborhood. Great job, Jefferson!

Interstate parking

If police are worried about being hit while they are on the side of the road, perhaps they need to take more care when on the road. I can name numerous times when I've seen a highway patrol car on the interstate with the front quarter of the car in the right lane. That's an accident waiting to happen. Perhaps it needs to happen so they will understand what it means to pull onto the shoulder. I would think law enforcement would have more common sense, but I've been proven wrong on that point several times.

Will of God

Who is to say that stem-cell research isn't the will of God? If man has the capacity to succeed, it is only because God willed it so. Look at the many other natural things in the world denied or restricted by man's foolish laws.

Biblical sins

You all would like to think that anything considered a sin in the Bible is also illegal. That is not the case. Sure, there are a lot of laws based on commandments and such, but the Bible is also racist and discriminatory and puts down women. As much as you Christians hate homosexuals, even though the Bible tells you to love everyone as yourself, being homosexual in America is in no way a crime. So until that day, God forbid, just stop talking.

Still missing Bill

To the caller who is the authority and judge on character: As a matter of fact, my entire family has been around President Clinton several times. Each time we left with a greater appreciation of him and his intellect. Yes, I and so many others miss him more each day.

Can't get there

Cape Planning and Zoning commissioner Harry Rediger expressed concerns about a voter backlash. Rediger feared that growing frustration experienced by drivers due to street repairs and detour signs would deter voters from approving an extension of the transportation tax. Rediger should not worry. With all of the street repairs and detour signs, there is no way drivers who are upset will be able to get to the polls.

Liberals in heaven

I have come to the conclusion that liberals won't even be happy in heaven. They'll try to tax the gold in the streets or the pearls in the gates. They'll try to start a protest because they'll think one angel's halo is brighter than the other. Another will try to complain because God will be the authority figure there and not Bill Clinton or some other liberal. They will complain because one harp is being played louder than the other or because a trumpet is being played too loud by one of the angels. No, liberals will not be happy in heaven at all, provided a liberal even gets there.

They can spend it

To the caller who knows people in Jackson who voted against the tax levy but can buy themselves any material thing: First, you're passing judgment. The Bible says God is the judge, not man. Second, it's no one's business how other people spend their money. They worked for it. They earned it. It's their right to spend it the way they want.

Future of legacy

If the economy continues to recede, President Bush's alleged wonderful character will be seen as of less and less significance to the point that in 2004 he will be Carter-ized.

Keeping it local

In alluding to the virtual federal takeover of public education in America, President Bush was quick to point out that paying teachers the good salaries they deserve would, of course, be left up to local school districts. Gee, thanks.
