I'M TIRED about of hearing about Clinton. I'll never forget him pointing his finger at the Americans and saying, "I never had sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky, never." And what does he do now? He's saying he did. I can't forgive it. I don't think the American people should, and he does not set a good example for our children. Something needs to be done...

No forgiveness for president

I'M TIRED about of hearing about Clinton. I'll never forget him pointing his finger at the Americans and saying, "I never had sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky, never." And what does he do now? He's saying he did. I can't forgive it. I don't think the American people should, and he does not set a good example for our children. Something needs to be done.

Public isn't fooled

WHAT A dire and extreme strategy a hypocrite will resort to in order to hold on to his power. Hollywood should sign him for a movie. His acting would need no tryout. We are not fooled, Billy.

Thrift store looking for location

SINCE THE Salvation Army has all the clothes they can take, we always give ours to Teen Challenge, but I don't know where to put them at now. So I'd like an address for that.

REPLY: Mid-America Teen Challenge continues to look for a new location for its thrift store following a fire that destroyed its operation on Sprigg Street. Officials say they hope to have a new location soon.

Thanks for emergency care

ON SEPT. 8, I went to Southeast Missouri Hospital's emergency room. I had severe chest pains. I'd like to say thank you to the staff who took care of me up there. Everything was quick and professional.

No need to belittle appearance

THIS IS in response to Donn S. Miller's letter to the editor "Tired of right-wing allegations." Mr. Miller has so much contempt for anybody who has a differing viewpoint or opinion or belief from his, but it was really contemptible of him to belittle Paula Jones because of her physical appearance.

What about the others?

I WONDER what Paula Jones and Kathleen Wiley feel when they see Bill Clinton giving his sincere apology to Monica Lewinsky.

It's time to make restitution

PRAISE THE Lord. I've been praying for Bill Clinton's repentance and forgiveness, and he has come forth in asking for that. Mr. President, it's a little too little too late. And yes, you may be forgiven, but you must now make restitution. I as a private citizen and registered voter am writing my congresswoman. And yes, you have a letter in the mail on the way to you, Mr. President. I am praying now for your willingness to resign. We don't need you. We don't want you. Be on your way. And if you don't resign willingly, I think we should impeach you.

Come take a closer look

I'M CALLING in regards to the comment, "Is this what our taxes are for?" The caller forgets that the city employees are paying taxes also. Maybe what the caller would like to do is come behind the scenes and volunteer his time to see actually how we operate and see the things that we do during the day rather than pick on the little things he sees here and there.

In defense of the lawyers

I JUST wanted to say that I read a recent Speak Out comment that said attorneys were enjoying a free ride in the arena of public opinion. I totally disagree with this caller for many reasons. First of all, most attorneys work very hard at defending the rights of individuals in society, which is a very important job. Second of all, they do not enjoy a free ride in the area of public opinion because of all the jokes and terrible comments that are made about them such as the one that was in this Speak Out column. The comment also said lawyers as a class are collecting huge hourly wages and contingency fees. I'd like to say that most attorneys that I know work very, very hard and are not over compensated for the work they do.

What's the cost to taxpayers?

I SEE where the city administration is about to lease the airport restaurant again. I would ask the Missourian to please check into this and find out how much this is going to cost the people of Cape Girardeau. I don't believe we need to spend six figures or five figures or one figure for somebody else to run that airport restaurant. If it's that unprofitable, it ought to be kept closed. So, Missourian, check into it and see what it's going to cost us and tell the taxpayers.

REPLY: The aim of a lease arrangement is for a restaurant operator to take over the terminal restaurant and make it a going concern without expense to taxpayers.

Profit from computer sales

I AMONG millions of other Americans don't have access to a Web site. I don't even own a computer. I wouldn't know how to work one if I had one. But what I want to know, who in Washington is going to make all the money off of the sale on computers because of this Ken Starr report?

Copying report at taxpayers' expense

I WAS just in City Hall at Jackson. Employees up there were running off the Ken Starr report. I'm just wondering: The taxpayers of this country have paid enough already for this four-year investigation. Who's going to pay for this 400-page document that they're running off at the public's expense? Enough's enough. I've had enough. I don't care. It's time to draw the line somewhere. These people should not be doing this at our expense.

No good TV shows

IT'S SUCH a shame that we have nothing good to watch on TV since they took off all the good ones like "Promised Land" and "Touched by an Angel" and "Dr. Quinn." We're just without anything that we can look at and be glad to show to children. I hope they make up their mind to change and give us back some of the good stuff.

It's time for Monica's apologies

NOW THAT our president has humbled himself and apologized to everybody on the planet, when is Monica Lewinsky going to apologize to Hillary, the daughter of the president and to the country? She is no Miss Goodie Two Shoes. Let's face it, she's been around. The things she said she was doing -- she's no little sweet innocent thing. So when are we going to get an apology from her? I feel I need an apology from her since she was throwing herself at the president.

The president has cost too much

FOR THOSE of you who may still hold out hope for the president, if you just stop and think how much he has cost the American taxpayer, over $40 million investigating his lies and dirty tricks, that alone should convince you the man must willingly resign office or otherwise be impeached.

Give credit to Reagan's policies

THE CLINTON supporters give President Clinton credit for the good economy. However, the Reagan policies which recovered the country from the poor economy of the Carter administration set the wheels in motion for our good economy now. President Clinton would be a tax-and-spend president if he had his way. If the Republicans get the tax cut they are proposing, it will help the economy for years. More spending by individuals, less control and spending by big government is the way to sound economy.

Put yourself in same situation

THE BOTTOM line is this, our president is an adulterer. He then lied under oath, an offense that would land every other person in jail. Yes, he's a man. Yes, he's asked forgiveness. I can forgive the actor, but the acts themselves are unforgivable. They are always wrong. By the way, did anyone notice he had to be undeniably caught -- DNA testing -- before he repented? That makes me question his sincerity somewhat. But I try to give him the benefit of a doubt. Finally I look at it this way, if you sister-in-law, daughter or sister came to you and said, "My husband are having sexual encounters with a girl barely five years older than our daughter, and at least three other women have accused him of the same thing, and he's even admitted to a couple of those as well," would you say, "Well, your family is well taken care of and he's doing a good job in all the other areas of husband and provider"? No, I don't think so. She deserves more than that because when she married him she never bargained for that. He would be disrespecting her in the sanctity of their union, and you would be angry at him. And with the numerous times that it happened, you would be safe to conclude that this tiger wasn't ever changing his stripes. Well, the same applies here. I don't buy the excuse that we should overlook what President Clinton does because the economy is good. Where do we draw the line? He is accountable us.

Monica was sexual predator

I AM so angry. How dare you call him a lying skunk of a president? You must be Mr. or Mrs. Perfect. He had an affair, people. That's not our business. I don't care how high up you are, that's not our business. He is our president. And if you would remember, Monica said on tape she was going to get down on her knees to someone in there no matter what it took. She was well involved in this issue, and I think she was the sexual predator here. She was determined. Don't forget that.
