I WOULD like to make a comment on how the law ought to be equal for everyone such as Bill Clinton. Why is it he was accused of sexual harassment? When you look at the actual charge, it's actually sexual abuse. When you touch the private part of another person, that is called sexual abuse. Sexual harassment is when you make lewd and sexy comments about a woman. That's sexual harassment. Why is Clinton only being accused of sexual harassment when it's actually sexual abuse?
THE 1939 Time magazine man of the year was credited with rebuilding the German economy because he was successful. The press and the people were able to overlook some minor character flaws he had, because at the moment he was the best thing they had going. Too bad we had to pay for it in the end. Wake up, America.
WHEN I see Clinton talking about anything anytime, I see him pointing his finger at me, lying to me for months and saying "I did not have sex with that woman." I can no longer believe him. Why should world leaders? Why should any of us? Think about it, American women. We can make a difference.
PRESIDENT CLINTON is on the deck of the Titanic, but he doesn't know it yet. He is still demanding a definition for iceberg.
CONGRESS IS not listening to what the American people want. So let's impeach the Congress.
HAVE YOU noticed how bipartisan Congress is when it comes to objecting to the press or anybody else checking into the past of members of Congress? They're really bipartisan on this one, aren't they. What are they afraid of?
WHY CANNOT the Democrats clean their own house? Clinton has disgraced and humiliated their party. They don't need him. If Clinton is impeached, Al Gore will take over. That will give the party two more years to rebuild the dignity and respect they deserve. The Republicans kicked Nixon out, and it sure doesn't look like it hurt them. It proved they were not afraid to look up to their party's problems.
WHAT IF the devil himself was the president of the United States? Then would you good Christian people say it doesn't matter what evil he's done as long as the economy is good and I have more money than I've ever had? The devil will be the only one laughing, because he sooner or later he will collect what is due him: your life for all eternity.
IF WORKING voters would just stop and ask themselves, "Where does my money go?" Democrats take money from the working man and give it to the poor and non-working man through even more taxes. Now this is a fact. If you vote Democrat, just sit back and watch. Listen to the Utopia you're being promised, all the goodies you're being promised. Nobody ever got anything for nothing, except Bill Clinton and leeches. Every program costs money, and that money comes out of your pocket.
SOME POLITICIANS have put their party before God's laws and morals values. Some citizens have put their "you owe me something" attitude before their country. Some people have put their race before patriotism, God and country. Some Christians have put their political party before their faith. Thanks to this, our nation has lost its pride and values. For myself, I don't feel proud of America anymore. I feel like I'm at my nation's funeral where honor and decency has died. I guess right is what wrong used to be in our country.
THE SLOGAN for Jo Ann Emerson is "Putting people before politics." What people is she putting before politics? She voted for the right-to-work law in Congress when it came up. Thank God I think it was defeated. She more than likely voted against the minimum-wage bill that was defeated recently and introduced by Sen. Ted Kennedy. Working people really need to make more money. It is a disgrace what the minimum wage is for such hard work for many of the people. And also, Jo Ann Emerson is against any national health-care bill. She's written me letters time and time again. She wants affordable insurance, but she never could answer what affordable insurance was. She claimed she voted for the right-to-work law because she said she was committed. She didn't say who she was committed to. So what people is she putting first before politics? Not the working people certainly. I just don't understand how they vote for her. If she would be in another district where labor is, no way would she win. Whether union or anti-union, she is not the working man's congresswoman. I wish you'd remember that during election time.
I'D JUST like to say that I hope Bob Dole isn't stupid enough to represent the president. This fellow has his nerve. If he wins, then the Republicans didn't have a chance anyway. And if he represents him, probably Congress will be more lenient with him. If he loses, then it's because he's a Republican. This Democratic party goes out and trashes Republicans and then turns around and asks them for a favor. Then on the news, they're trashing him again. I can't believe the American people can't see through this charade.
I HAVE been a Republican all my life, but I have changed over to Democrat just like Gingrich did. He changed from Democrat to Republican. Let me tell you why I've changed: the dirty work they have done on Clinton. I am done with my party. The Republican Party has done the same, and the Democrats have let them go. Let me tell you a true story. God says unless you can be judged, don't judge nobody else. And that's all the Republican Party is going to do. They're going to judge everybody else. Clinton has done more for this country than any Republican has ever done. Name one thing that the Republicans have done to help the poor working people. The people want Clinton to stay in, but they're playing politics up there. They want him out. Why? Because they get him out, and they'll go after Gore. Watch it. Then Gingrich will take over, and Social Security will be cut out.
IN RESPONSE to the comments made by the employee of St. Francis concerning the merger of our two hospitals, I would just like to say as an employee of Southeast, I too oppose the merger, and most of the employees whom I've spoken with do also. Not only is there a fear of losing one's job which will effect Cape's economy, but also the fear of working for another organization that has different policies as our own. St. Francis has certain ways they handle things, and at Southeast we have another. They can't be merged. Another question is that of savings. At first everyone was told that there will be a price cut. Now we're told there will only be a price freeze. Prices already are higher than St. Louis and Memphis hospitals. They stated it is due to the reduction in Medicare, so it looks like this will have a big effect on the elderly. Lastly, there is the matter of competition. As it is now, both hospitals are constantly improving their services to keep up with one another which benefits the patients. However, if the merger goes through, this will no longer be the case. My advice to the community is to speak out and let their feelings be known as we are all in this together.
I JUST finished reading Bill Coomer's letter to the editor, and I agree with it 100 percent. It is a well-written letter.
PRESIDENT JIMMY Carter is one of the most honest presidents we've had in recent history. This week, Carter said that President Clinton has lied repeatedly under oath and should resign. Carter understands what it means to be honest and what we need in an honest person. I agree with Jimmy.
I WAS the one making the comment about Tamara's help in our community. I never criticized her. I just questioned how much time she was spending with her son and her husband. There are too many people out there who work full time and don't have time for their children. They are too tired. I just wonder where the parents of these girls that she was wanting to help out are, and why they don't take care of them themselves?
WELL, I see the Southeast Missourian is going to be just as biased about the hospital merger as they are biased between conservatives and liberals. Why don't you just once print the news and not print your opinion.
