Dangerous intersection

THIS IS in regards to the completion of Kent Street. I recently read a letter written by a engineer who was hired to review the completion of this street. He concluded that this would be a dangerous outlet onto Lexington Road due to a large, blinding hill. This letter was signed by the city manager and given to the city council members. Also the cost to put this street through would be over $100,000 paid by the city taxpayers. After talking with a city council member, the only explanation was that over six years ago, before Lexington Road was built, this street was to be completed. There are now ample outlets out of Woodland Hills subdivision with other less dangerous and much less expensive routes being developed. In the beginning, Lexington Road was to be at a lower level than what was originally built out. Why would we as taxpayers want to spend this amount of money to put in a dangerous intersection?

Cable TV stinks

I HAVE got a comment about the cable TV in this town. It stinks. First, they're going to take off WGN and the others Jan. 1 then they decide to do it on Dec. 30 because it's their decision, not the people that pay for it. I'm really sick and tired of their decision. They won't even listen to the people who pay for it.

Marlboro lawsuits

I JUST witnessed one of the most ridiculous television news reports ever. The widow of the original Marlboro man wants to sue the makers of Marlboros because her husband died from cancer. They knew the danger, she says. I'm well into my 60s. If people in their 80s have lived that long, they have been told for years that tobacco is not good for your health. She shouldn't get a dime. In fact, if anybody should be sued, she should be sued right along with the Marlboro maker, because she and her husband took the income from the commercials, purchased whatever they want to purchase, and at the same time encouraged other people to smoke Marlboros. Will the legal system ever quit being so sick?

Cable bullying

JUST HOW long are we going to let TCI jerk us around? First St. Louis gone, now WGN gone. You know the old gripe, you can complain about the weather but you can't do anything about it. Well, we can do something about them. We can yank them out and see how they like being bullied. And that's what they are doing. If you talk to them about WGN, they will tell you that's just the way to be.

Democrats ignore the obvious

THE BASE word in the word ignorance is ignore, and these Democrats who continually call Speak Out prove this point. They praise Clinton as the champion of the little guy yet ignore the fact that he fired longtime travel office employees in order to replace them with his relatives and friends from Arkansas. They say Democrats look out for the working person and ignore the fact that Democrats are largely responsible for taking about half of everything the working person earns. They rejoice that the Democrats finally got some dirt on Newt after 74 attempts and completely ignore Whitewater, Paula Jones, Travelgate, Troopergate, Filegate, illegal contributions and heaven knows what else. When the indictments start coming in against Mr. and Mrs. Slickmeister, this same group of geniuses will stick their head back in the sand and ignore the whole thing. Yes, the words ignore and ignorance mean the same thing when applied to be brainwashed Democrats.

Another liberal definition

THIS PERSON who has called in talking about what a liberal is and how different condemn liberals. He has gave exactly opposite of what a liberal is. Liberals are for keeping poor people captive to the welfare state. They've set up something worse than slavery. Remember, the proofs in the pudding, so just look at what liberals have done. Do you think that the people that are on welfare in the ghettos are in better condition now than before they had it? This is what the liberal state has brought. The liberals want to make slaves out of their grandchildren. They want to put a 85 to 90 percent tax rate on people. This guy says he went in the military, but most liberals didn't. They're for sending someone else's son but not yours. They're for taking guns away from law-abiding citizens and, in other words, setting up a Marxist police state. And as far as being Christian, let me ask you this. Do you think Christ would own an abortion clinic or he would advise people to get abortions or kill old people? This is what liberals want to do with their Jack Kevorkian styles and their abortion clinics. It really makes me sick when I read people that claim they're liberals and Christians. You can't be a Christian and be a liberal. All you have to do is read the Bible. The Bible says thou shall not kill. Well, you're for abortions. And another thing, liberals are for gay rights. Jesus plainly tells you in Revelations, the last chapter and the last verse of the Bible that homosexuality is wrong, sexual immorality and sexual immorality is wrong, sexual immorality is homosexuality, along with other types of adultery, but it's all immoral. So don't tell me how great liberals are. And as far as what the greatest liberal president, Roosevelt, did, think of Pearl Harbor and the men who died at Pearl Harbor.
