Clinton does more than FDR

I UNDERSTAND one of the reasons so much money was raised for Bill Clinton. Here was a man the people trusted and they wanted him to win and he is a smart man and is doing a fine job and that worries the Republicans. I hope the people will stay with Al Gore. He's a good man for president. I enjoyed this election from the first day it started until now. I love to hear Mr. Clinton talk, and he explains what he's talking about and what he's doing about things. He's doing more for this country than Franklin Roosevelt.

We are the government

I WAS reading in the paper the other day where the superintendent of schools was discussing busing the kids all over town and separating the grades into K-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12. His comment on the cost of the busing was that the government pays for that, it's a grant with no concern of ours what that should cost. Looks like he should know that the government is the citizens, and we are all paying for it one way or the other. Looks like a foolish idea to be shipping these kids all over town. Taxpayers money being spent once again.

Why does Mexico need help?

WOULD SOMEONE please tell me why, if Mexico's economy is doing so great that they could pay those millions of dollars a while back which made the president look like he did the right thing by helping them, do they need aid from us to fight drugs? We're broke.

Bill made me sick

YOU KNOW what it's like to be stunned. Recently, my family doctor recommended that I see another local doctor for a condition I may have or not. Second opinion, great. First visit to this doctor, he was pleasant, asked a few questions, talked about my condition from family doctor's report, felt area of condition, recommended that I have second test at hospital. Nurse takes blood to be tested and may need surgery. Okay, now pay bill. Got my checkbook out, probably little over $100. Wrong. How about $300 over the amount. Now I am sick.

Cemetery story was slanted

IT SEEMS irresponsible of your newspaper to feature on the front page the slanted article about the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mississippi County. It did not state the black funeral directors chose the placement for the deceased. Stated also was that originally one section was set for blacks, one part for Catholics, and one area for white people. It failed to state the color of Catholics. At least one respectable black man lies in an otherwise white community cemetery. His plot is maintained same as the others. No, I will not say which cemetery.

SEN. LOTT, you're playing politics as usual with illegal campaign activities. You don't want to look at how Congress ran its illegal activities, which went on, no doubt. You just want to look at the White House. Why can't you come to understand? The Democrats won the White House. You won the Congress. I know you want to get a Republican in the White House so bad. It's so hard for you to realize that the Democratic candidate Clinton won by a substantial amount in this last election. So why can't you just take it that way?
