I HAVE a question for the citizens of this city. I'm looking for a bubble recipe which uses glycerine, Dawn detergent and water. You mix the three components and put it in a proper container and children can make bubbles out of it that will float through the air and that they can pop. Can somebody please give me the correct amounts of each item? I'd appreciate it and thank you...

A recipe for bubbles

I HAVE a question for the citizens of this city. I'm looking for a bubble recipe which uses glycerine, Dawn detergent and water. You mix the three components and put it in a proper container and children can make bubbles out of it that will float through the air and that they can pop. Can somebody please give me the correct amounts of each item? I'd appreciate it and thank you.

The judiciary rules

DESPITE THE compelling evidence that the founding fathers of this country never intended the judiciary to be the ruling branch, the fact remains that in today's society, the judiciary, especially the Supreme Court, has become the ruling branch of government. Long ago, Thomas Jefferson, a writer of the Declaration of Independence and president of the United States, not only predicted how the court might change its own role, he also forewarned of the ensuing results. "It is long however been my opinion and I have never shrunk from its expression that the germ of dissolution of the federal government is in the constitution of the federal judiciary, working like gravity by night and day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noisily step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction until all shall usurped." Today's judiciary, as Jefferson foresaw, achieved its status to a slow and steady accumulation of power until it is today the primary branch of government.

Thanks to the PAW

I VERY much enjoyed the article that the Missourian did on the L.J. Schultz newspaper that won so many awards. However, I wish they had mentioned which teacher sponsored that effort. I know a lot of time must have gone into that.

The adviser to the Paw is Pat Heckert. She does deserve a great round of praise. Each year, under her guidance, the Paw wins numerous awards. The article you mentioned was written by a member of the Paw staff, not the Missourian.

Spread the wealth

I JUST heard on the news that Procter and Gamble had given Cape and Jackson schools nearly $500,000 for use. My comment is, do they think that Cape and Jackson schools are the only schools in Cape County? What about Delta and Oak Ridge? They also send workers to P&G. Come guys, let's spread it around.

Questioning Paula Jones

YOU KNOW this bit about Paula Jones and President Clinton. I'd like to ask a question. How come she didn't go to the police if she was assaulted by the president? Why did she wait until he got to be President to bring it forward? Something's wrong somewhere because if he did that, why didn't she go to the police? I'm sorry, but I can't believe all this stuff some of these women are putting out on these men. I blame the women 100 percent in some of it because they're wanting something out of it or they would be doing it.

How about a Good Guy Award?

I WOULD just like to say that I have never seen a person who is more understanding and caring, with more patience when it comes to working with children than Jack McDonald. I see all these awards given out for so and so award of the year. How about just a good person, good guy award or something?

Private school champs

RECENTLY MARTY Mishow criticized several local coaches during the basketball season about reorganizing public and private schools. I'd just like to say that out of the four teams that played in the 2A baseball championship this week, the Kelly Hawks were the only public school. The other three were private. What do you have to say about this, Mr. Mishow?

Where's the finance page?

I WOULD like to address this to the editor of your newspaper. Why have you discontinued the finance page in your Saturday paper? I feel like this was a very good page. It had all the stock quotes and the mutual funds. I know different people that miss this page a lot and please comment and tell us why you have discontinued this.

Response was somewhat limited to our weekly Finance page. Only a handful of people have called about its discontinuation. As a result, we added a daily business package with expanded local stocks of interest. We are hoping to add daily mutual funds in the near future. If you want your stock or mutual fund listed, please call Ray Owen at 335-6611, Ext. 133.
