I'M NOT a Democrat or a liberal, but I think the election went great just because of the simple reason that Bill Clinton did find the end of welfare as we know it.
Nose-blowing while eating out
YOU KNOW when you pay a fair amount of money to go out to a nice restaurant to have a nice meal, it's disgusting to have adults who look intelligent to sit next to your table and blow and blow and blow their noses. Why can't they blow them before they sit down or after they leave? Can you inform these people how disgusting and sickening it is? It has happened more than once.

High salaries for judges
I READ with some interest the news that some of the judges in Missouri were going to get anywhere from a 20 to 30 percent raise in salary, going all the way up to over $100,000 apiece. If these judges can't live on this exorbitant salary that they're being paid, then maybe they'd better go find something else and let somebody have the job who's qualified to get by on the money. There are a whole lot of people in this area that's not making $80,000-90,000 a year. There are quite a few people making a whole lot less. It seems to me if the judges can't get buy on what they been getting, maybe they ought to go seek compensation somewhere else. They sure are getting a whole lot more money than what some of us are living on.
Work together
TO THIS person who says get behind Trent Lott and Newt Gingrich and support Congress: Get real. We support the president of the United States. And along with us, Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott also work with him to make a better country. President was voted. He won by a mere landslide. The people, apparently, want him as president of the United States. They may have wanted the Congress to be Republican but they wanted the White House to be Democrat. So let's get real. Those are alleged charges brought against him and his family. He is innocent until proven guilty. Until then he is our president. We owe him our respect, and Gingrich and Lott owes him their respect also. They work with him. He doesn't work with them. He is the commander-in-chief, and he is our president, like him or not.
Liberal nonsense
I READ with interest the article in the Southeast Missourian that pointed out that arts are going to elevated to the same level as math and science. Our students compared to students in other countries are doing very poorly in math and science. I understand that the lady who was quoted in the articles said that the arts will be more compassionate and will teach students to be more tolerant of others. Well, that's just jolly. That has nothing to do with education. It has everything to do with this liberal, socialist agenda that these teacher types are trying to shove down our throats. She also points out that complicated math problems can be solved by dance. Hogwash. Have you every been in a grocery store or a restaurant and seen someone begin dancing about to decide what their bill was supposed to be or what percent they should leave as a tip? I don't think so. This has nothing to do with education. It has everything to do with liberalism and socialism and cramming a bunch of stuff down the throats of our children to suit a particular agenda of those persons that want to teach these sorts of liberal nonsense.
