ANNA, Ill. -- August L. "Boss" Travis, 70, of Anna, Ill. died Friday, Nov. 15, 1991, at the Hillside Terrace Nursing Home in Cobden, Ill.

He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Tom and Lulu Mae Morton Travis. On May 22, 1963, he married Helen Harvel, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Dennis Travis of Belleview, Fla.; five stepsons, Lonnie Harvel of Jonesboro, Ill., Harold Dirden of Broken Bow, Okla., Lester Dirden of Anna, Larry Dirden of Murphysboro, Ill., and Perry Dirden of Jonesboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and eight step, great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Norris and Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Jerry Ford will officiate, and burial will be in the Anna Cemetery.
