BLOOMFIELD -- Funeral service for Charles L. Evans Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Gaines will officiate, with burial in Fairview Cemetery near Puxico.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.

Evans, 50 years old, died Monday, April 1, 1991, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born April 10, 1940, near Puxico, son of William and Velma Lawrence Evans. He and the former Peggy Gaines were married in April 1959.

Evans was an automobile dealer. He returned from St. Charles in 1983 to open a business at Dexter. He was a member of Eagles Club, and a past commander of Bloomfield Amvets. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Evans Jr. of Dexter, Gary Evans of Bloomfield; two daughters, Charlene Frymire and Pamela Hester of Dexter.; his mother of Bloomfield; three brothers, Jim Evans of Bloomfield, Junior Evans of Puxico, Kenneth Evans of Houston, Tex.; two sisters, Carros Worley of St. Charles, Maurene Box of Houston, Tex., and six grandchildren.
