MARBLE HILL -- Clifford E. Stephens, 90, of Marble Hill, died Friday, May 24, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 19, 1901, at Greenville, son of James A. and Ida May Jacoxwaquash Stephens. He and Florence Fox were married May 26, 1924.

Stephens moved here in 1954 from Greenville. He was a farmer, past president of Bollinger County Co-Op Board, and past president of Greenville School Board.

He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Marble Hill, and served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the church more than 23 years. He was a member of Marble Hill Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge 440.

Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Mildred Miller of Granite City, Ill., Virginia Douglas of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mabel Jones of Fairview Heights, Ill.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church here. The Revs. S.S. Borum and Fred Ritter will officiate, with burial in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home here from 9 a.m.-noon, and at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
