JACKSON -- Lyman L. Welker, 72, of Jackson, died Saturday, May 25, 1991, at the home of his daughter.

He was born June 6, 1918, near Millersville, son of George W. and Amanda Byran Welker.

He married the former Norma Randol Dec. 19, 1946. She preceded him in death in March 1953.

Survivors include a son, Richard L. Welker of Chaffee; a daughter, Genevieve Gribler, Jackson Route 1; a brother, Lee Welker of East Alton, Ill.; three sisters, Ella Niswonger of Cape Girardeau, Jean Schreiner of Jackson, and Ollie Hager of Taylorville, Ill.; a half sister, Clara Giahgianpen of Perryville; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Welker made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Delph of Jackson about 40 years.

He worked as a cook for the former Schade's Cafe in Jackson, and the Owl Shanty Cafe at Fruitland. He also worked for Jackson Cleaners and at the former Jackson Handle Factory.

He was a member of American Legion at Jackson. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a deacon in the Calvary United Pentecostal Church, and was active in Sunday School.

Service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronnie Brown will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. An American Legion honor guard service will be held at 7:30 at the funeral home.
