CHARLES W. SCHLITT

Charles William Schlitt, 62, 649 Flint Hill Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of William N. and Theckla L. Dirnberger Schlitt. He and the former Mary Elizabeth Kendrick were married May 27, 1954, in Cape Girardeau.

Schlitt owned and operated Charles Schlitt Insurance Co. more than 36 years. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University.

He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Vincent's KC Council 1111, and was a Fourth Degree knight with Thomas A. Langen Assembly.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, William Schlitt of Charleston, S.C., David Schlitt of Colorado Springs, Colo., James and Joseph Schlitt of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Schlitt of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Shelia Wallace of Fayette, Deborah Foeste of Cape Girardeau, Angela Schlitt of the home; a brother, the Rev. Harry Schlitt of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, O'Dilla Darling of Stratham, N.H., and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and brother.

A memorial mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Harry Schlitt officiating.

Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There is no visitation.
