CAIRO, ILL. Mary Etta Cowan, 86, of Tullahoma, Tenn., died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1991, at Life Care Center there. She was formerly of Cairo. She was born Aug. 8, 1905, in Ballard County, Ky., daughter of Frank and Mary Elvina Foss. She married Capt. Ernest O. Cowan, who died March 26, 1986...

CAIRO, ILL. Mary Etta Cowan, 86, of Tullahoma, Tenn., died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1991, at Life Care Center there. She was formerly of Cairo.

She was born Aug. 8, 1905, in Ballard County, Ky., daughter of Frank and Mary Elvina Foss. She married Capt. Ernest O. Cowan, who died March 26, 1986.

Cowan was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo, and Alexander County Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Hortter of Tullahoma, Emily Gilmore of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Clyde Cowan of Spring, Texas; a brother, Robert Foss of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Barkett Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate, with burial in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Saturday.
