ELMER J. SCHMIDT

ALTENBURG - Altenburg resident Elmer J. Schmidt died Saturday, Nov. 16, 1991 at his residence. He was 82.

Schmidt was born in Altenburg on Sept. 7, 1909 to Ernst and Sara Mueller Schmidt. They preceded him in death.

He married Lorna Hasse Schmidt on March 12, 1933. She died March 9, 1990.

Surviving are sons Robert, Ronald, and Clifford Schmidt, all of Altenburg; and Merlin Schmidt of Brazeau. One daughter, Doreen Carpenter of St. Louis, survives.

Also surviving are a brother, Roland Schmidt of Alva, Okla.; a sister, Stella Cross of St. Louis; and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, as well as its choir.

Visitation will be held at Young & Sons East Prairie Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Tuesday. The body will then be taken to Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday for funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
