NORMAN CORNMAN

Norman Cornman, 77, of 1540 Dunklin in Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 15, 1991, at the John J. Pershing V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Fredericktown, the son of Jesse and Retta Phipps Cornman.

In March 1946, he married in Louisville, Ky. Opal Riehn, who survives of the home.

He was a postal employee in Cape Girardeau before his retirement in 1966. He also was a veteran of World War II, where he served in U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, the United Methodist Men's Club, and the men's Bible club of the church. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a daughter, Leila Potts of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Mary Penrod of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Neil Stein and James Sanderson officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, where VFW Post #3838 presenting military rights at the cemetery.
