MARION, Ill. -- The Small Business Administration has declared Williamson and the surrounding counties of Franklin, Jackson, Pope, Saline and Union disaster areas as a result of the high winds, storms, and flooding that ravaged the Marion area Nov. 19.

"This is welcome news for the many people who have lost their homes and businesses, said U.S. Rep. Glenn Poshard, D-Carterville. "Their courage through these difficult times has been an inspiration, and now we can supply a measure of assistance to help them rebuild their lives."

The SBA declaration makes physical and economic injury disaster loans available to homeowners and business operations.
