Michael A. Braun, formerly of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, has received a promotion in which he became supervisory special agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

He was promoted to the post in April after working for the DEA since 1985. Braun became a senior special agent with the DEA in 1989.

Braun worked at the Cape Girardeau Police Department from 1975 to 1979 before being employed with the Illinois State Police. He was assigned as a special agent with the Division of Criminal Investigation.

Braun was scheduled to be transferred to DEA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. as staff coordinator-team leader with Operation Snowcap.

Operation Snowcap is an interdiction operation in Central and South America. The operation, done in conjunction with DEA counterparts in various countries, consists of intelligence gathering to identify and destruct clandestine laboratories, airfields and other related targets.
