Tracy C. Bender of Cape Girardeau graduated in June from the University of Chicago with honors in her class and department. She received a bachelor of arts degree in history, philosophy and social studies of science and medicine on June 15. Tracy C. Bender of Cape Girardeau graduated in June from the University of Chicago with honors in her class and department. She received a bachelor of arts degree in history, philosophy and social studies of science and medicine on June 15.

Bender has accepted a position as project coordinator at the University of Chicago Hospital's department of anesthesia. She also accepted a position as assistant volleyball coach at the university.

At the university, Bender was a four-year varsity letter-winner in volleyball and was named to the all-conference volleyball team in fall 1990. She participated in volleyball in the 1989 Olympic Festival.

After spending a year in anesthesia research, she plans to return to school to study a science.

She is the daughter of Tim Bender and Glenda Masterson and the stepdaughter of Brenda Bender and Mike Masterson.
