Ten scholarships for the 1991-92 academic year have been awarded by the Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary to students pursuing various health care careers.

The scholarships are awarded annually based on a number of factors including financial need and the willingness of the recipients to sign service contracts.

These contracts state that the students agree to work at least one full year on a full or part-time basis as a health care professional at Saint Francis.

Saint Francis Auxiliary Scholarships have been awarded to Gary E. Brown and Tammya Renee Bowzer, both of Cape Girardeau, and to Judith Finley, Janae Eskew and Kristine Debrock, all of Chaffee.

Brown is pursuing an associate nursing degree at Southeast Missouri State University and expects to graduate in December of 1992. He is a graduate of Cape Central High School and is the son of Roby Brown of Jackson and Edna Crader of Cape Girardeau.

Bowzer is also a nursing student at Southeast and is seeking a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is a graduate of Abilene High School in Texas and attended Cisco Junior College before beginning her studies here. She is the daughter of Marguerite Wright of Abilene and the late Novell Wright.

Finley attends Southeast and hopes to graduate with an associate degree in nursing in December of 1992. She is a graduate of Chaffee High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Swain of Chaffee.

Eskew plans to graduate from Southeast in December of 1993 with an associate degree in nursing. She is a graduate of Lamesa High School in Texas and attended Angelo State University in Texas before coming here. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Jordan of Purcell, Okla.

Debrock is a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau and hopes to complete work on her nursing degree in 1994 at Southeast. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Debrock of Chaffee.

Receiving a scholarship from the Dr. Raymond A. and Lillian K. Ritter Scholarship fund is Richard Essner Jr. of Perryville. He is a pre-med student at Southeast where he hopes to receive his undergraduate degree in 1993. He is a graduate of St. Vincent High School in Perryville and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Essner Sr. of Perryville.

Sisters of Saint Francis Memorial Nursing Scholarships have been presented to Dena Cook of Jonesboro, Ill. and Mary Todt of Oran.

Cook is a nursing student at Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Ill. She is a graduate of Fredericktown High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johny Inman of Fredericktown.

Todt is studying to become an accredited record technician through the American Medical Record Association and Southeast Missouri State University.

The Dr. Mark F. Scully Scholarship has been awarded to Bonnie Ann Miller of Scott City. Miller is a licensed practical nurse at Saint Francis and hopes to earn her bachelor's degree in nursing at Southeast. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Miller of Scott City.

The 1991-92 Huttegger/Scherer Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Stephen Grim of Cape Girardeau. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Grim and is a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau. He is currently a respiratory therapy student at the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School.
