Shawn Parrish of Cape Girardeau has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

To earn this highest award in scouting, Parrish earned 28 merit badges and devoted 38 hours completing his service project.

With several fellow scouts, Parrish completed his service project of improving the latrines at Elks Lake.

He has been active in scouting since 1985 and a member of Troop 2 since 1988. He earned the Arrow of Light Award and God and Country Award.

He has served as assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and troop guide.

Parrish is a freshman at Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School where he is a member of the Beta Club. He was selected to be a member of the Division 3 Junior High Honor Band.

Parrish is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and is the son of Buddy and Marsha Parrish.
