St. Denis Grade School

Let us introduce you to St. Denis School in Benton, Missouri. For the past eighty-seven years the school has been a vital part of our Parish Community. Parents and all parishioners have sacrificed to support the school and make a Catholic education available to all.

Throughout the year the students and faculty are involved in numerous activities: the celebration of the patron saint of our parish; "Grandparents' Day", on which the students honor grandparents and senior citizens; the Christmas program; and the Seder Meal on Holy Thursday.

Our sports program which includes boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, and volleyball depends on volunteers for coaches and concession stand workers. This year the parishioners erected new playground equipment for the children.

One of the highlights of our year is Catholic Schools Week. This year's activities will include a family trivia quiz, a 50's day with a sock hop in the evening, breakfast for the parents and children, making cards for the elderly and homebound, and writing letters to the servicemen. On Thursday we will join the nationwide prayer vigil for peace. Our week will end with a balloon release and field trip. With these activities our students, teachers and parents will celebrate our school.

Catholic Schools Week's theme, Kaleidoscope of People, gives us an opportunity to appreciate our traditional Catholic School and all those involved in making our educational system possible.
