CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The National Catholic Education Association awarded Carl E. Rosenquist the 1991 Catholic Elementary School Distinguished Graduate Award.

This is the first year that the award has been given. To qualify for the honor, an individual must have graduated from a Catholic elementary school and have made a significant contribution which reflects favorably on the education received in a Catholic elementary school.

Rosenquist is a graduate of St. Augustine School in Kelso. He is currently principal of St. Vincent de Paul School in Cape, a position he has held the past four year.

He earned specialist degree in school administration from Southeast Missouri State University. He worked 12 years in Missouri's public schools before coming to St. Vincent.

Rosenquist serves on the board of directors for the Missouri Chapter of the National Federation of Non-public School State Accrediting Association, and has served on many varied committees in both the public and Catholic school systems.

Rosenquist has also served for 20 years as a member of the United States Naval Reserve, reaching the rate of master chief hospital corpsman.

He lives in Kelso with his wife, Frances, and his sons, Robby and Ryan.

The National Catholic Education Association is the largest private, professional education association in the world. Founded in 1904, the association's membership represents 200,000 educators.
