ICSC reports that 1,171 shopping centers in Kansas and Missouri continue to support the region's economy. During 1989, the most recent year for which statistics are available, shopping centers accounted for 66 percent of all non-automotive retailing in Kansas and Missouri. Shopping centers employed 359,000 workers in the same area and generated $949 million in state sales tax revenue.

In 1989 construction started on 33 shopping centers in the region, generating $125 million in construction contract value and supporting 2,100 jobs.

Advance registration for the ICSC meeting is $90, which includes the opening reception and a continental breakfast and luncheon. Additional information is available by contacting Phyllis Klasky (212) 421-8181.
