CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Auditions for the first Broadway Community Theatre production will be held Sunday and Monday.

The community theater group, which evolved from the Broadway Players organization, will present "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder May 31. The play will be done in the round at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

Tryouts Sunday are scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Tryouts are also scheduled Monday from 8-10 p.m. at the Academy of Dancearts, 2254 Kingsway Drive.

Susie Felker, who is coordinating the theater group, said about 17 cast members are needed for the production, including adults and children.

Scripts will be available at the auditions.

Directing "Our Town" is Sylvia Baeza, a dance instructor at Academy of Dancearts. Baeza, who is originally from Chile, earned a doctorate degree in speech communication and theater from Southern Illinois University. She has choreographed several plays, Felker said.
