The Council of Garden Clubs goes Hollywood during their annual flower show Saturday.

The show will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the Riverview Banquet Center, 132 N. Main.

A $1 donation at the door will be used to maintain the rose display garden in Capaha Park.

"The theme is Hollywood," said Betty Kuss, publicity chairman for the council. "All the classes are movie titles."

In addition to flower arrangements meeting specifications of each class, they must also reflect a particular movie title. For example, table designs will reflect "Breakfast at Tiffany's" or "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner."

In the creativity category, entries will reflect "Gone With the Wind," "Dr. Jeckell and Mr. Hyde," or "Twenty Leagues Under the Sea." Kuss said, "Part of the `Twenty Leagues Under the Sea' arrangement will be under water.

"These exhibits are really art," she said. "And a lot of work goes into getting the arrangements to fit the theme."

The flower show is competitive; judges will evaluate each entry and ribbons will be awarded.

Special categories are available for novices and for children under 14.

Gardeners also may enter plants or cuttings, instead of arrangements, in horticulture categories.

Chairmen of the flower show are Anne Faust and Ann Crites. President of the Council of Garden Clubs is Nadine Davis.
