The patrol spokesperson said the vehicle, driven by Jerry Bonner, 22, also of Cape Girardeau, went into a concrete-lined ditch after leaving the highway. Nabors was worn wearing his seat belt, he said.

The patrol identified James Allen, 33, of Advance, as the victim in the other accident. Allen was injured when he lost control of the dump truck he was driving on Highway 25 and it overturned.

According to the patrol, the accident happened one mile south of Blomeyer when a vehicle in front of Allen's dump truck, which was headed north, braked suddenly. Allen had attempted to stop his own vehicle.

Allen was taken to Dexter Memorial Hospital. The patrol spokesperson said he had worn his seat belt.
