BENTON -- Derek Dirnberger and Pat Hulshof combined for 43 points as Kelly broke open a close game with a big second quarter to beat visiting Oran in Scott-Mississippi Conference play Friday night.

The two teams were knotted at 18 after the first period of play, but the Hawks pumped in 25 points in the second quarter to take a 43-32 lead at the break.

Kelly, 6-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play, extended the lead in the third period by outscoring Oran by five to up the lead to 62-46 before finishing off the triumph with another solid stanza in the fourth period.

Dirnberger finished with 22 points and Hulshof had 21. Pat Carlisle was also in double figures for Kelly with 16 points while Dustin McIntosh led Oran (6-8 overall, 2-3 conference) with 26.

Israel Shaffer and Mike Steimle each added 12 points for the Eagles.
