SCOTT CITY -- Kelly High's boys basketball team wrapped up second place in the Scott-Mississippi Conference by beating host Scott City 68-54 Tuesday night.

The Hawks, now 12-10 overall, wound up league play with a 6-1 record. Scott City, also 12-10 overall, fell to 5-2 in the conference. Scott County Central won the Scott-Miss title.

"Kelly shot the ball real well tonight," said Scott City coach Derek Urhahn. "This was a big game because it decided second place in the conference."

Pat Hulshof paced the Hawks in scoring with 24 points. Heath Burger added 11.

Scott City got 15 points from both Brent Anderson and Shannon Smith and 12 from Greg Klund.

"We just could not get the ball to go down in the first half," Urhahn said. "We'll have to play a lot better Friday night against Bloomfield to clinch a winning season.

Kelly led 17-11 after one quarter and 32-21 at halftime.
