I WOULD LIKE to tell the citizens of Cape County I think KFVS really did a disservice to the community on this Monday morning, Jan. 14, by not telling people it was slick outside. I saw several accidents coming to work. One looked like it could be pretty bad. No one knew the road was slick and it was very, very slick outside, and all they could say was it was warming up and we would see the sunshine. I think this is terrible that they can't get out and find out what the weather really is instead of using that worn-out phrase over and over on TV that as the day progresses we will see better weather. Thank you.

I THINK THAT Jay Eastlick should be whipped with a wet typewriter ribbon for his article about the Mrs. Missouri title in Sunday's newspaper. I know Melody Hutson and I was looking forward to learning more about her from the article, but it seems that the winner of the contest got less publicity than the promoters of it and the ladies who came in second or were just contestants in the pageant. I thought it was a very disappointing article and I hope that you can find it in your heart to do another article on Mrs. Hutson. Thank you.

Because the pageant took place late Saturday night, our deadline did not allow time for an in-depth interview with the winner afterwards. Therefore, Eastlick wrote the story in advance from interviews he had done earlier in the day with Hutson and other local women.

WHY IS THE news media making such a big deal over the president's wife breaking a little bone in her foot? How about the young men and women overseas and their wives in America with their children? Why don't they worry about them? She has her own hospitalization; everything is free if she goes in the hospital or anything. They had better think about the men and women overseas and the wives at home with children. Help them more. That's not a big thing, a little bone broken in the foot. What's the matter with the news media?
