This is a good way to discover what problems a home might have. Many inspections of homes are done by companies trying to sell improvements or products. That's not the case here.

Inspectors will look at exterior foundations, electrical systems, plumbing, exits, roofs, chimneys, vents, smoke alarms, mechanical items such as water heaters, the proper storage of combustibles and other aspects of home safety. To sign up, city residents can call 334-4466.

Homeowners with concerns should consider taking advantage of this program.
