The annual membership blitz of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, held last week, once again proved a success. As of the end of the one-day drive, 47 new chamber members had been signed up. These new members join the more than 1,150 members that make the Cape Chamber such a vibrant participant in our community. With this latest success, total membership exceeds 1,230.

Last week's top recruiting team was Cathi Schlosser and Jerry Reynolds, who together recruited 16 new members. Congratulations to them and to all the energetic volunteers who helped in the recruiting effort.

Currently, the Cape Girardeau ranks first in the state in its population category of 50,000 and under. In fact, the Cape Chamber ranks fourth in Missouri in total membership, behind only St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield, with their much larger populations. It is good that even with these impressive numbers and participation, our chamber isn't resting on its laurels. And if you're not already a chamber member, consider joining and becoming an active member in its many worthwhile activities.
