The completion of Nash Road from I-55 to the Southeast Missouri Port Authority at Scott City is a major milestone in economic and industrial development for the region. Ribbon cuttings are planned this afternoon for two new industries at the port and for the highway itself.

The port authority is attracting more and more interest, in large part due to developments such as rail accessibility and, now, the direct highway link. Port officials and industrial development officials see more gains on the horizon.

And some Scott City folks will no doubt see the Nash road connection as an alternative to the only other I-55 interchange for the city, which is often congested. The $10 million Nash Road project is a welcome addition.
