On July 4 at 11:45 a.m., something happened that I cannot get out of my mind. I was going to my cousin's home in Cape Girardeau and was having trouble finding it. I finally stopped at a house on North Big Bend Road where I saw a group of people outside celebrating the holiday.

I asked a young man I saw if he could give me directions to my cousin's home. He proceeded to tell me how to get there. Then another young man heard our conversation. He asked if she was a retired teacher. When I said yes, he too offered directions but ended up actually taking me to the house himself by having me follow him. Once we got there, he waited until my cousin appeared at the door before he left.

I keep thinking about this young man and how appreciative I am for all his trouble. He was kind enough to leave his party with his friends and family to take me to where I was going. I am sorry I didn't get his name. I wish I had. But I am hoping he will read this and know what a good Samaritan he is and how grateful I am.
