To the editor:

Just because a person is in jail doesn't mean he's guilty. Your brother, father or friend could end up in this hellhole. We are supposed to have some rights. We stay in a 5-by-8 cell 24 hours a day. We get out for approximately five minutes to shower on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The food we get is always cold, plus I feed my dog better. The women, though, are out of their cells most of the day. Once I asked for an aspirin and got it two days later, because they were busy. It's another world in here, and they think they're God.

I may be guilty, but I'm human. This place needs some changes, and it wouldn't cost the taxpayers a dime. A poor person doesn't have a chance. I'm here for a traffic violation. I was going to get sent home until the captain said to put a bond on me. I think a $1,000 cash bond is a little high.
