Just a brief reminder to the people of Southeast Missouri that the Missouri Legislature once more will be considering a voted on the $500 daily gambling loss limit.

It seems that the gambling people have trouble understanding the will of the people and wait for a moment when we are asleep. I think it is important to be sure to notify your legislators of your feelings regarding the $500 loss limit. Please do not assume that by their own personal views of good character that they are not influenced by others. If they continue to hear from the gamblers and that aspect of their constituency, they may be swayed to vote against their conscience and for their constituency.

Please let state Reps. Mary Kasten and David Schwab and state Sen. Peter Kinder know exactly how you stand regarding this question. You may feel that Cape Girardeau has avoided the boat and it will never come here, but if the $500 loss limit is raised, we may find ourselves facing this question once again.
