To the editor: Every Tuesday the Southeast Missourian delivers The Mini Page to Millersville. My class and I would like to thank you for providing us with this fun and educational tool. We look forward to the theme for the week, the reading and the activities it provides. Often I find the themes relate to units I am covering or will be covering. It's nice to use The Mini Page as supplemental material for these units. Thanks for supporting our future through the children, reading and education...

... On behalf of North Elementary School students and faculty, I would like to express our gratitude to the Southeast Missourian and the Area United Way for running the Y.E.L.L. program.

Because of this program, many children throughout the different communities wil have an opportunity to advance in reading literacy.

Thanks to you efforts, we at North Elementary are anxiously awaiting some of the past Caldecott Medal winners to add to our library collection.

Again, thank you for reaching out to the youth of our communities.

... We are aware of how hard Kim McDowell and others at the Southeast Missourian work to raise money for Y.E.L.L. On behalf of the Girl Scouts and adult volunteers who will benefit from the Read to Lead program funded by Y.E.L.L., please accept our sincere appreciation. We look forward to implementing the program.

Thank you again, and happy holidays.

... Again, I want to say thanks for giving me the opportunity to obtain a grant in order to get some supplemental reading materials for my kids. What a great way to enhance our reading program. I really do appreciate it so much. Thanks on behalf of my students too.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Y.E.L.L. (which stands for Youth Education Literacy and Learning) is a program that raises thousands of dollars each year for literacy programs throughout the area. Funds are administered by the Area Wide United Way. Volunteers who help sell special Y.E.L.L. editions of the Southeast Missourian are mainly responsible for the success of the fund-raising program.
