Our daughter was among 12 high school students passing through Cape Girardeau on a transcontinental bicycle trek. My wife and I came to town to wish her a happy birthday and watch the group cross the Mississippi River.

We just want to say thanks to your wonderful community for the hospitality shown to these young people. The local police gave them an escort across the bridge. One of your reporters met them after the crossing. The college offered showers, and the First Baptist Church offered shelter.
