To the editor: It's time to move the concrete cross along Highway 61 to private property. It honors the 1699 French missionaries Montingy, Davion and St. Cosme who brought Christianity to the Native Americans and later helped take away their land. Catholic kings of Spain, of course, didn't admit Protestants. This symbol of religious intolerance belongs where all can see it. But 15 percent of Americans aren't Christian, so the cross should be moved to private property...

It's time to move the concrete cross along Highway 61 to private property. It honors the 1699 French missionaries Montingy, Davion and St. Cosme who brought Christianity to the Native Americans and later helped take away their land.
