To the Editor: In the Sunday, Jan. 20, 1991 comic section, Trudeau's Doonesbury strip had a drawing of Barbara Boopstein posing as a pin-up girl for Operation Desert Shield. It appears she was supposed to topless, and dressed in a marine uniform. No doubt the boys would like it!...

My gripe about Garry Trudeau's Doonesbury strip is this:

In the 1984 issue of "The Comic Journal," Trudeau was complaining about the Beetle Bailey strip which portrayed Miss Buxley.

This is a quote by Trudeau to the National Cartoonists Society:

"I'm sure Mort Walker thought his drawing of Miss Buxley was all in fun, but just because part of his audience applauds his leering portrayal of Miss Buxley doesn't make it any less reprehensible.

"While publishing drawings of naked female cartoon characters may be society's idea of a `salute' to women, it certainly isn't mine."

With this letter, Trudeau resigned from the National Cartoonists Society!

Trudeau certainly has a short memory to say the least!

By the way, Beetle Bailey is my favorite cartoon strip and has been for many years!
