Betty Jean King, 85, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, July 27, 2020, at her home.

She was born Jan. 20, 1935, in St. Louis, daughter of Virgil and Pearl Camden Sweeney. She was raised by her stepfather and mother, Robert and Pearl Mongreig.

Betty worked as a technician for United Technologies.

Survivors include her son, Donald (Tami Claywell) King of Hickory Creek, Texas; daughter, Vivian King (Tom) Burt of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Nick Sweeney of St. Louis; sister, Rebecca Baker of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; cousin, Gene Sweeney and family of Burfordville; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Laurie King.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Liley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
