Barbara J. Farquhar, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.

Barbara was born April 5, 1930, in Chicago to the late Henry and Lucille Gladish Ochs. She and John M. Farquhar were married Oct. 2, 1960, in Houston.

Barbara graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School before attending and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis. She went to work as a reservationist for Braniff Airlines in Houston, where she met and married John.

They moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a brief time before returning to Cape Girardeau, where she became the owner/operator of Ochs Florist. Barbara loved to paint and painted many local scenes.

Loving survivors include her husband, John Farquhar; son, John (Matilda) Farquhar Jr. of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Caroline Cameron of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Cinnamon (Matthew) Fuller and John Patrick (Arin) Farquhar, both of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ochs.

Friends will gather from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A graveside committal will be at a later date.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
