Tom had graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic Grade School. He then went to high school and college at Kenrick Catholic Seminary in St. Louis. He studied philosophy and theology. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Bishop Timon No. 6405 Knights of Columbus in Jackson. Tom worked for the Southeast Missourian and Blair Industries as a graphic artist and retired due to failing health.

Tom and Maxine were very generous people. They would open their homes to many over the years; especially family, friends and exchange students who had no place to go for the holidays. Tom enjoyed painting and sketching. He also had a love and interest of children.
