Ruthie Robinson

Ruthie Mae Robinson, 74, a resident of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 18, 1945, in St. Louis to the late Hosie and Bertha Mae Williams Taylor.

Ruthie accepted Christ and was baptized at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston, Missouri. She passionately loved the Lord, His word and prayer. To know Ruthie was to know her joy of the Lord and her willingness to give herself to everyone she met.

Ruthie was a certified nursing assistant for many years at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She worked until she was unable to because of her health. She was an avid gardener, and she loved to cook. The true loves of her life were family and friends.

Ruthie enjoyed spreading the gospel to anyone who would listen. Sometimes that involved visiting local nursing homes in Sikeston or just conversing with individuals in passing. She never met a stranger and loved to talk. She loved to spend time with her mother, Bertha, and her sister, Sue, going to garage sales, and her two sisters, Sanoria and Velma, who also lived locally.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Stephanie) Taylor of Sikeston, Greg (Tammy) Walker of Cape Girardeau and Calvin (Renee) Walker Jr. of Bell City, Missouri; daughters, Tamara (Mike) Walker-Colon of Cape Girardeau and Adriane Booker of Saudi Arabia and Atlanta; brothers, Hosie (Joe Anne) Taylor Jr. of East St. Louis, Illinois, Carl (Cynthia) Taylor of Fairfield, California, Paul (Jodella) Taylor of Vacaville, California, and Robert and Willie Taylor of Sikeston; sisters, Margaret (Roosevelt) Jones and Thelma (Glen) Norman of St. Louis, Velma Williams of Dexter, Missouri, Debra Taylor of Memphis, Tennessee, and Sanoria Taylor of Sikeston; grandchildren, Roiele, Takeisha, Khassie, Blake, Tierra, Destinee, Victoria, Chelsea, Alante, Hunter, Trenton and Laci; great-grandchildren, Tayshaun, Korionna, Khadence, Kylin, Chloe and Rylan; an aunt, Ida Lane of Sikeston; her best friend for more than 40 years, Arlena Foote of Cape Girardeau; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Annie Pullen and Glenda "Sue" Taylor; granddaughter, Ebony Draper; and great-granddaughter, Loriele Tate.

Friends may gather from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour of noon Saturday at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1029 S. Benton St., in Cape Girardeau. Bishop Charlie Green III will officiate. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery, with Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri, in charge of arrangements.
