Robert E. Bruhl, 88, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at Great Rivers Medical Center in Blytheville, Arkansas. Robert E. Bruhl, 88, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, at Great Rivers Medical Center in Blytheville, Arkansas.

He was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of George Daniel and Alice Frances Kostal Bruhl. He and Carol S. Schaefer were married July 20, 1957 in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Robert and Carol lived in the Chicago area for many years and relocated to Jackson in 1996.

While in Chicago, he worked at Western Electric and for many years worked as a programmer for the Railroad Retirement Board. After moving to Jackson they became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church and currently he was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ near Fruitland. Robert also enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include a son, George Daniel Bruhl II and his wife Penny; three grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew and Justin Freeman; and five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Easton, Jayce, Noah, and Alexander Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, his parents, a brother Paul Daniel Bruhl, and a great grandson Jackson Freeman.

Visitation will be at 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rodney Pensel officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery.

Due to current health concerns, guests are advised to keep conversations brief and extend condolences through non-physical contact. Please refrain from hand shaking and hugging.
