On Jan. 27, 2021, we lost an angel. A gracious, gentle soul who seldom spoke a harsh word, Carolyn Dillon was the ultimate caregiver who doted and tended to those she loved. Carolyn had a face full of kindness and a heart of gold, and she will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Carolyn was born Jan. 17, 1942, and raised in McClure, Illinois, by her parents, Chester "Jake" and Sarah Almeda Dillon. The middle child of three children, Carolyn was the quieter, softer spoken sibling. She is survived by June Dillon Morgan, her older sister, and Chester (Pat) Dillon, the "little brother" and apple of both his sisters' eyes.

Carolyn was a hard-working woman. After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1960, she began working at the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau until she put in her years to retire. Then she went on to retire from Dyno Nobel in Wolf Lake, Illinois.

Carolyn was a member of American Legion for more than 25 years and served as unit president for three years.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1973 and recently her companion of almost 30 years, Floyd "Tuffy" Ralls, who passed Dec, 23, 2020. Carolyn's surviving loved ones also include her "bonus" son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Jr. and Lorie Ralls, and bonus grandchildren, Belinda, Nick, Brandi and Mandy.

When wrapping up a visit, Carolyn would always say, "Well, Sis, or well, Little Brother, I've got to go" -- we know it was time for you to go. Godspeed, our beloved Carolyn.

You will be missed by your family the Dillons and Morgans.

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lindsey Cemetery for both Carolyn Dillon and Floyd Ralls as they are placed to rest together. It is requested that everyone attending wear a mask and socially distance. Brother Randy Morgan will officiate the services.

Donations can be made to Lindsey Cemetery or American Cancer Society.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Online condolences may be made at www.fordandsonsfuneralhome.com.
