Myra LaJean Johnson, 80, of McClure, Illinois passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 21, 1940, in Chicago to Camden Forrester. Myra and Melvin Johnson were united in marriage on Oct. 29, 1962, in Cape Girardeau.

Myra was raised in Holly Springs, Mississippi, by her aunt and uncle George and Cornelia Forrester.

Later she moved to Cape Girardeau with her father and worked at the Purple Crackle Club where she met her husband.

Myra worked as a teacher's aide at McClure Grade School, before becoming a housekeeper at Southeast Missouri Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of East Cape Baptist Church McClure, Illinois.

Survivors include two sons, Scott (Angie) Johnson of Millersville, David Johnson of McClure; three grandchildren, Tayia Duncan of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Heather Duncan of Darlington, Pennsylvania, Russell Duncan of Darlington, Peensylvania; one great-granddaughter, Piper Nelson of Darlington; and her extended family, Drew Davis, Marty Davis, Tyler Davis, all of McClure, Dianne Popp of Cape Girardeau; and her life long friend, Marge Rendleman.

She was preceded in death by her father, Camden Forrester; sister, Shirley Ross; husband, Melvin Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home Sprigg Street location.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home Sprigg Street location with Pastor Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
