ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Norman "Butch" R. Hunt, 69, of Altenburg passed away Friday, March 26, 2021, at his home.

He was born on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1951, near Altenburg to George A. and Elda Weber Hunt. He was the third born of four children. He and Mary Hager Hunt were married on Feb. 19, 1972. She survives in Altenburg.

Butch was best known as the mailman, as he carried mail for 46 years, retiring in 2019. Aside from delivering mail, he was a lifelong farmer and had a passion for red tractors. Butch loved to go trout fishing and antiquing with Mary, his loving wife of 49 years. His witty sense of humor would draw smiles and laughs from almost everyone he met.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg and Lions Club.

Survivors include three sons, Nathan (Becky) Hunt of Frohna, Missouri, and Ben and Ryan Hunt. both of Altenburg; three sisters, Ruth Rauh of Jackson, Paula Reisenbichler of Cape Girardeau and Gladys (Gary) Laug of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Lydia, Klayton and Austin, whom he loved and adored. He had many nieces and nephews and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, John Rauh and David Reisenbichler; father- and mother-in-law, Wilson "Speed" and Lois Hinkle Hager.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at East Perry Funeral Home in Altenburg.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Beautification Fund.
