John R. "Jack" Craig, 77, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1944, in Belleville, Illinois, to Harry and Florence Schaefer Craig. He and Jeaneen Rice were married Sept. 22, 1967, in Maryville, Illinois.

Jack was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish.

He received his Bachelor of Arts in biology and economics from McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois.

He was employed as a key accounts sales representative with Dial Corporation for over 30 years. After leaving Dial Corporation, he worked a number of years for Advanced Pest. His open and friendly personality touched the lives of so many in his work and personal life.

Jack was a dedicated scoutmaster for Troop 16 and committee member for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.

Loving survivors include his wife of 53 years; children, Damian (Jennifer), Andrea, Joseph and Matthew Craig and Erica (Ryan) Raney; granddaughter, Addison Craig; fur baby, Sadie; sisters, Rita Lippert and Pat Craig; brother-in-law, Richard (Jo-Ann) Rice; sister-in-law, DeAnn (Mark) Heiney; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother- and father-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel, with rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Face masks are highly recommended. A private burial for the family will follow Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Francis Hospice or a charity of choice.
