Robert E. "Bob" Aufdenberg, 77, of Jackson passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 1, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 7, 1943, in Cape Girardeau to Albert and Frieda Best Aufdenberg. He and Shirley Faye Steiner were married Jan. 25, 1970, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Robert was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He was a 1961 graduate of Jackson High School. He served honorably in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1961-1969.

Bob was a prominent, lifelong farmer in Tilsit, where he raised grain, cattle and hogs. In 2005, the farm was recognized as a Missouri Century Farm. Bob's agricultural affiliations included the SEMO Cattleman's Association and Missouri Farm Bureau.

Loving survivors include his wife, Shirley Faye Aufdenberg of Jackson; daughter, Cathy F. (Todd) Reiminger; two sons, Scott L. (Summer Myers) Aufdenberg, and Brian R. (Ashley Hinkebein) Aufdenberg, all of Jackson; six grandchildren, Nathan R. Reiminger, Devin R. Reiminger, Nolan R. Reiminger, Vivian F. Reiminger, Allie J. Aufdenberg and Savannah G. Aufdenberg; two stepgrandchildren, Samuel D. Unnerstall and Colton J. Unnerstall; brother, Leon (Donna) Aufdenberg of Jackson; his mother-in-law, Lorene Vernell Steiner of Jackson; brother-in-law, Virgil Steiner of Cape Girardeau; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Harold (Kathryn, first, and Alma, second) Aufdenberg, Marvin (Dorothy, first, and Gladys, second) Aufdenberg, Albert (Jackie) Aufdenberg Jr., Evelyn (Roy) Gholson and Earl (Marian) Aufdenberg; father-in-law, Nelson Steiner; and sister-in-law, Loretta (Chet) Going.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Burial and military honors will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
