PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sylvia Ann Mayberry of Perryville entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 83. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sylvia Ann Mayberry of Perryville entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 83.

She was born Aug. 24, 1937, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, to the late Harry and Audell Bloom Richey. Sylvia was raised in Coffman, Missouri. She married Vearl Mayberry on Sept. 18, 1958. She worked for General Electric in addition to being a homemaker and mother.

As the family moved from state to state and country to country, she was the glue that held the family together. Sylvia was Baptist in faith and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 3917 of Security, Colorado.

She will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Vearl Mayberry, and her sisters, Mary Lou Smith, Wanda Pirtle, Janice Russell and Alma Griffith.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Kevin C. Mayberry of Jackson; Sgt. Maj. (Ret. Army) Keith A. Mayberry of Killeen, Texas, and Kenny (Janine) Mayberry of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Kristin (Marine Capt. Mike) Mayberry Sterrett of Stafford, Virginia; Marine Sgt. Kory (Cassandra) Mayberry of Twentynine Palms, California; and Kameron Mayberry and Kaden Mayberry, both of Cape Girardeau; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Virginia House of Perryville; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillview Memorial Gardens at Farmington, Missouri, with Pastor David Parmley officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St Louis, MO 63108.
